Thank you & Best Regards !
I have subscribed to websocket API, but I would prefer to use HTTP REST API if its available. In this thread I see such an API was launched 2 years ago. Is it discontinued now ?
No, the HTTP API is not discontinued.
All documents of the same are also available in this thread.
After you are sure as to what you wish to pursue, send us a detailed email / raise a ticket.
Thanks Aditya. I wish to pursue websocket only, because it is supposed to be faster than HTTP API. But I am worried because, I have been seeing issues in websocket. Very often it disconnects. As of writing this response, I am getting the error -> ....\websocket\_http.py", line 176, in _open_socket
ConnectionRefusedError: [WinError 10061] No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it
Hence inquiring about the alternative. If it is more reliable and stable than websocket, I would consider using it instead of websocket.
Please note that disconnections could happen due to the following:-
Also please confirm the following to help you further:-
I'm facing the same error while I connect now:
"ConnectionRefusedError: [WinError 10061] No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it"
I'm assuming it's because the service might be down for maintenance. As backtesting can work even on weekends, can I request you to move the down time to odd hours, even in the weekends(atleast for the historical APIs) as this is the time which I would spend my considerable amount of time for backtesting.
We have working on reducing the maintenance stoppages over the weekend which are now taking effect.
With the REST (Historical API) Upgrade the downtime for history maintenance during weekends has been reduced manifold.
