I tried to install .msi file in Ubuntu20.04 using Wine. It failed. I asked them how, they reverted me asking me to install Windows. I wonder if they are getting paid by Microsoft to promote Windows. Last time I used Windows was in 2011 or something. In order to install Windows I have to find and download the operating system first and understand what they have changed in the last 10 yrs. Then I'll have to partition my disk for installation purpose. Are you kidding me!! Does anyone know how to install the .msi file of Velocity 2.0 in Ubuntu20.04LTS. I tried

sudo wine64 start TrueData.Velocity.2.0.Setup.msi

It's asking me to install .NET framework version 4.0 , when I click yes it's giving me

xdg-open: no method available for opening 'http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=131000

The following command gives

$ sudo apt-cache dump | grep dotnet-sdk

Package: dotnet-sdk-2.1

Package: dotnet-sdk-3.1

Package: dotnet-sdk-5.0

Does anyone know how to fix it?

TrueData Velocity is a plugin that works with 3rd party charting software, e.g. Amibroker, NinjaTrader 7/8, MotiveWave, MetaStock, etc.

NOTE: All these 3rd party charting software works on Windows platform only and hence, we have Velocity version that works on Windows platform that supports the above charting software.

If you are using any of the above mentioned charting software, only then Velocity is for you. In that case, kindly request those software creators (company) to create their software that can be compatible with Linux/Ubuntu and TrueData would also try to come up with the solution for Linux software then.

Also, we don't get paid from Microsoft.

I don't use any charting software, Amibroker, NinjaTrader etc. etc. I want to download the data in my machine. I have my own analysis method. In the videos, it's mentioned if the data is saved, then its saved in the local drive.

If you do not use any of the said charting software, then Velocity service is not for you, since Velocity works with those 3rd party charting software only.

Also, data is saved in the local drive when it is installed in your Windows PC and is used with any of the supported 3rd party charting software.
